धृतराष्ट्र उवाच |
Dhṛitarāshtra spake:
धर्मक्षेत्रे कुरुक्षेत्रे समवेता युयुत्सवः |
"Having here at the land of dharma, at Kurukshetra gather'd, here desiring to fight --
मामकाः पाण्डवाश्चैव किमकुर्वत सञ्जय ||1||
What did they, they my sons and the sons of Pandu, O Sanjay?"
सञ्जय उवाच ।
Sanjay spake:
दृष्ट्वा तु पाण्डवानीकं व्यूढं दुर्योधनस्तदा ।
"Having seen the army of the Pandavas in battle-array, Prince Duryodhana then
आचार्यमुपसङ्गम्य राजा वचनमब्रवीत् ।। 2।।
Approached his teacher and spake these words:
